World Pharmacist Day: 25 September

World pharmacist day is celebrated on September 25 annually to spread awareness, show pharmacists contribution and how they help in improving health. The founder of World Pharmacists Day, the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP Founded in 1912) is the global body representing pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, and pharmaceutical education. The objective of this celebration is to promote and support the role of these professionals in disease prevention, health promotion and treatment follow-up worldwide.

However, they announce different theme in every year but, this year (2020) theme is “Transforming global health“. It is an initiative to improve the state of healthcare globally. Now, work of pharmacists is even more important as they fulfill a mission of health advice, advice on medicines, vaccination, etc.

Why 25 September celebrated as world pharmacist day?

World Pharmacist's Day was established by the International Pharmaceutical Federation or FIP. This took place during a Council held in September 2009 in Istanbul, Turkey. The date 25 September was chosen to commemorate the day on which the organization was created.

International Federation of Pharmacists (FIP) This non-governmental organization brings together various associations of pharmacologists and pharmacists from around the world. It was founded on September 25, 1912 in The Hague (Netherlands) and today represents more than four million professionals.

World Pharmacist Day

The FIP has collaborated with the World Health Organization (WHO) and various governments of the world, offering technical expertise and implementing joint projects, as well as contributing to action plans that seek advances in science, education and pharmaceutical practice.
