How to Spot a Fake Smile

Although, fake smiles are very similar to real smiles, in reality they differ slightly because they are generated by another type of facial muscles, which are controlled by another part of the brain.

Fake smile are the result of the conscious part of our brain and the controlled stimulation of the zygomatic muscles that contract the cheeks: these are the muscles that pull the corners of the mouth outwards.

Real smiles, on the other hand, are generated unconsciously, so they are automatic response. When people feel pleasure, the signals pass through area of the brain that generates emotions. In real smile, the lips stretch more widely, without uncovering the teeth. In a fake smile you can clearly see their teeth (bottom teeth in their mouth).

Natural smile is associated with a feeling of pleasure. If a person showing teeth too much it could be a fake smile. You can clearly spot In a TV show, that the loser's smile may be almost identical to the winner's.
